iPods Deliver 2-Minute Training Chunks
Picture yourself slouched in an airless corporate training class. The room lacks windows. The smell of whiteboard markers is starting to give you a headache. The walls are tan, the PowerPoint slides endless…
Wouldn’t you rather be outside, lolling about in the fresh air?
Homewood Suites by Hilton now offers training to up to 6,000 employees via iPod, in two-minute chunks. Employees can watch the segments, which are organized into play lists, anywhere. Speakers for the company imagine that this new format will increase on-the-job coaching and guidance from peers.
Who knows? Speedy, “bite-sized” training like this presents a legitimate challenge to those who deliver classroom training. Corporate training must become more accessible, more relevant, and engaging enough to lure people away from their iPods.
