Module 2: Identifying and Analyzing Training Needs

Participants learn and practice foundational research tools to ensure a relevant training program.

Module 3: De-Mystifying Workshop Design*

Participants:

  • apply an easy, four-step process to organize content.
  • design techniques to arouse participants' interest and investment in learning in the first 5 minutes.
  • design participatory activities to achieve learning outcomes.
  • develop a real-life draft lesson plan to use immediately.
  • receive invaluable feedback on their design from instructor and peers.

Module 4: Making the Most of "The Intensified You:" Unlocking the Secrets of Physical Presence

Learn to "pump up" your own unique gifts to be the best possible presenter. By practicing effective use of your voice and body language, learn to exude confidence and charisma no matter what the subject area.

Module 5: Using Learning Styles Effectively

Innovative self-assessment and application to your training design.

Module 6: One-on-One and Small Group Coaching

Individualized instruction and coaching for groups 5 or smaller. Can be used as a stand-alone training piece, or as additional, on-going support for individuals who have been trained.

Module 7: Classroom Management: When The Going Gets Tough

Participants learn and practice skills to manage difficult dynamics in the classroom.


Trainer Development: Instructional Design

When You Must Write for Others: Curriculum Development Made Easy
Participants develop written training sessions using a template and process that accelerates the instructional design process. Field-tested for several years with a variety of high-tech and "soft-skill"training designers, this module ensures participants can develop curriculum any other trainer can use with ease.

(Pre-requisite: Modules 1 and 3.)

Train-the-Trainer from Guila Muir

Purpose: To advance the training design and delivery skills of experienced trainers. This course is a three-day, intensive "design and present" laboratory that will kick your training skills up multiple levels. Participants walk out of this session with the world-class training skills to use in any environment.

Who Should Attend:

Trainers with a minimum of two years' experience. This course also provides helpful templates and design strategies to those who develop training.

You'll Learn To:

  • Ask the three questions that must be answered before undertaking any training initiative.
  • Develop a number of needs assessment approaches that work for YOU and your organization.
  • Build trust and safety in the classroom.
  • Grab your participants' interest and involvement in the first 30 seconds.
  • Develop learning outcomes that fit into your organization's mission and make training easy.
  • Choose from a variety of interactive techniques that let you know if your participants are "getting it."
  • Develop conclusions that reinforce learning interactively.
  • Teach in a highly participatory, engaging style that motivates your participants.
  • Evaluate student learning both in and outside the classroom.
  • Build ways to ensure that the training "lasts" outside the classroom.
  • Enhance your presentation skills.
  • Increase your confidence and authority inside the classroom.

Session Outcomes:

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Effectively identify and analyze your students' training needs.
  • Use an easy instructional design process to develop training sessions on any subject.
  • Describe at least 7 interactive evaluation methods (both in-class and post-training.)
  • Model higher levels of confidence, authority, and ease in presenting training content.
  • Demonstrate mastery of these skills through presenting your own mini-training session.
